The Latin Podim Securum or “safe height”: Puysegur bears the name that defines itself. Overseeing the Gers, the village offers natural protection.

The castle of Puysegur, property of the famous Armagnac family. It was then owned by Nicolas de Chestenet, an official supplier of red and black sheets used for the clothes worn by the consuls of Lectoure and the Capitouls of Toulouse. Being a consul himself, Nicolas de Chestenet is wealthier and becomes a nobleman, allowing him to purchase the fortress from the Armagnac family.
