The forest has a global surface of 149 hectares, of which 60 hectares are listed as protected. The Serilhac forest is one of the rare remains of an ancient royal forest which extended on 1500 hectares.
It is positioned around ponds and water catchments allowing the population of European Cistude turtles to find shelter (protected species) as well as numerous dragonfly species.
The forest is characterised by natural environments (treed massifs, undergrowth, grasslands, streams and ponds) friendly to hawks (European Sparrow hawks and Buzzards).
This forest is well preserved, and hiking trails are available for your pleasure.
